What Malti Chahar Said
During a recent chat with Siddharth Kannan, Malti said that a lot of things went wrong after she went to the seventh grade. She jokingly started by saying,, “I got my periods.” After a brief laugh, she further added, “I have adenomyosis, a condition that causes extreme menstrual pain. I used to be hospitalised almost every month.” She said that there was no cure for it and that though one can take hormonal medication, it always used to come with side effects. Malti said that no one could understand her pain even in the house of Bigg Boss. She highlighted how it was difficult to make people understand the pain without having them generalise it.
She further added that these health issues were accompanied by other familial issues. Her parents used to often fight and she had to witness it all as the elder sibling, as her brother had started playing cricket which kept him away from all this. But this was not it, Malti said that her most traumatic phase started when her father boycotted her until she completed her 12th grade.
She said she wanted to enter the Miss India pageant and work in entertainment, but her father insisted she aim to become an IPS officer and restricted her freedom to keep her focused on studies. She was made to keep short hair until class 11 and felt controlled, which affected her deeply. Growing up in a small town, she also faced eve-teasing but stayed silent, fearing stricter rules. Although she believes her father meant well, she felt unable to make her own choices.
She added that frequent conflicts at home in their small house, including being caught in her parents’ fights and occasional physical discipline, had a lasting emotional impact. Her parents later separated due to long-standing compatibility issues.
