The house of Bigg Boss 19 is in a heavy debate arena after contestants Amaal Mallik and Gaurav Khanna fought over nepotism. And in an attempt to defend himself, the former went ahead and called his own father, Daboo Mallik, a ‘failure’ and called himself a product of ‘reverse nepotism.’ While the singer might have said this in the heat of the moment, this statement did not sit well with social media users, who were disappointed in him.
What Amaal Mallik Said
During the recent episode, Amaal Mallik was seen having a heated argument about nepotism and the insider-outsider divide. Amid this, Gaurav Khanna argued that while outsiders have to work hard to sustain, ones with industry connections often get their first opportunities easily than outsiders. He said, “Jahan tumhara struggle shuru hota hai, wahaan hamara aspiration hai.” Mallik countered this argument and said that his mom and brother used to stand like that in front of Mehboob Studios.
After this, Gaurav mentioned that Mallik’s family legacy made it easier for him to meet host Salman Khan, whereas it took 20 years to get the same opportunity for someone like him. However, the singer disagreed and insisted that every artist has different struggles. At one point, the singer expressed that his father never received any backing from Anu Malik and described his family as an example of “reverse nepotism.” He openly acknowledged that Daboo Malik struggled in his career and that he had no hesitation accepting that reality.
One user commented, “Calling own father a failure, calling other persons ma a porn star, insulting womanhood, calling others naukars (servants), snatching a food plate and throwing it… And yes, u should feel so proud of Amaal, disgusting Mallik. The walk of humiliation is what he does after the show.”
The singer, son of music composer Daboo Malik and nephew of musician Anu Malik, made his debut as a composer in 2014 with Jai, contributing three songs to the Salman Khan-starrer.
