Bhumi Pednekkar has been praised multiple times for her acting. However, last year, when her show The Royals made it to Netflix, it garnered a lot of criticism from the audience. Now talking about the same, the actress candidly revealed how it negatively affected her. She questioned herself and her craft, leading her to take a break from acting. Bhumi Pednekkar On The Royals’ Criticism
During her interaction with The Hollywood Reporter, Bhumi Pednekkar stated that she felt numb after receiving a lot of backlash despite the show being a hit. The actress mentioned that, along with the trolling, she also received constructive criticism and this led her to make some major decisions last year. One of them involved taking a break, which Bhumi did not announce as she didn’t want to dramatise it. She expressed becoming “emotionally depleted,” and would completely lose perspective of who she is as an actor and a person. She took a step back and amid that, she had to find her well-wishers and people who actually had something constructive to say. The Dum Laga Ke Haisha star revealed she has not been on a set since June.

Was Taking A Break A Good Decision For The Actress?
During her chat, Bhumi Pednekkar also stated that taking a voluntary break was the best decision she could have made for herself. The actress revealed that during this period, she did many things like reading books, watching films, taking a Harvard course and travelling. Bhumi shared that she did not have any real experiences left in her that could be extended to her craft and that scared her. The Pati Patni Aur Woh star shared that one of her biggest fears was being mediocre and according to her, she had reached that point. For the actress, it was important to accept that because she knew what she’s capable of doing. Bhumi reflected on her work by watching her films as she was lost and questioned herself, “Can I actually act? Do I have it in me?” Having said this, the Badhaai Do star was actually glad that people saw The Royals and the criticisms shook her.
When it comes to her next professional endeavours, Bhumi will be seen in Prime Video’s Daldal. We are truly excited and looking forward to seeing the actress in the said project!
