Speaking about the reasons behind the end of his marriage, the actor-director explained that there was no scandal, drama, or intrigue involved. He shared that there wasn’t a single defining event or moment to point to—just two people trying to navigate their lives and relationships like many others do. As one gets older, he noted, it’s rarely a case of someone doing something specific to cause a breakup.

Instead, it’s more akin to a couples therapy session, where patterns and personal issues become more apparent over time. He admitted that sharing the details feels too personal and vulnerable, which is why he prefers to keep them private. Ben Affleck said that he didn’t want the world to be under the impression that he would speak ill of his ex-wife, Jennifer Lopez.
