Oscar Piastri Wins Bahrain GP
Starting from the pole position, McLaren driver Oscar Piastri, despite a close call from George Russell, managed to build a strong lead throughout the race. While there was early trouble for his teammate Lando Norris, with a five-second time penalty for being out of his position on the grid box (We noticed it too, Max).
Russell eventually finished second, holding off a thrilling late chase from Lando Norris, albeit the Silver Arrows driver will be scrutinized after the race for a possible DRS violation. Norris finished just 0.774s behind Russell, a solid performance from the McLaren driver after a tough Qualifying session on Saturday.
Despite putting up a good fight against Norris in a scrap for third in the latter stages, Charles Leclerc had to settle for fourth, ahead of Ferrari teammate Lewis Hamilton in fifth, and Max Verstappen snatched sixth place in the final moments on what had been a difficult evening for the Red Bull driver, who had issues at both of his pit stops.
Pierre Gasly scored Alpine’s first points of the season in seventh place (full claps), followed by Esteban Ocon in eighth, indicating that the Haas racer’s early pit stop strategy was successful. Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda finished ninth, while Ollie Bearman added to Haas’ total in 10th.
