There was an early champion in McLaren, and this time, it’s not Lando Norris. When asked about a positive takeaway from the Bahrain Grand Prix 2025, the answer was that it was finished. After starting the season with pole position in Melbourne, Norris has found it tricky to mask his discomfort with the 2025 car in China. Neither the drivers from the team nailed their Suzuka qualifying, the Bahrain race raised a lot of questions for Lando Norris.
Lando Norris At Bahrain GP 2025
With McLaren back on top at the Bahrain GP, it was Oscar Piastri who struck a chord with his iconic win. On the other hand, his teammate Lando Norris was messy from the start, as he started with a P6 qualifying lap. Fans still expected the driver to cruise to the podium, as overtaking was much easier than at the last three venues.
But all of it became too difficult after he misangled himself with the grid box, leading to a five-second penalty. He had gotten off to a good start, moving up to third place before being penalized for an early pit stop. Though Charles Leclerc pitted much later, Norris retook P3 after the safety car reset. But messy attempts at chasing Mercedes’ George Russell made him stuck at P3. He admitted that he stopped himself from making progress the entire day.
Andrea Stella, the team’s leader, protected his driver and believed it was everyone’s obligation to make Norris feel comfortable driving the MCL39. However, Norris does not believe there are obvious remedies at hand. Otherwise, he would have used them already.

He quoted, “This year, I could not have felt more opposite so far. Even in Australia, whether or not I won the race, I never felt comfortable, confident. The car was just mega, and that’s helping me get out of a lot of problems at the moment. But I’m just nowhere near the capability that I have, which hurts to say.”
However, Lando Norris claimed that his hallmark candor about his flaws is therapeutic and compartmentalised, rather than malicious and detrimental to his driving skill or self-esteem. He mentioned that he was very disappointed in himself. As the less-experienced Oscar Piastri takes p1, Norris remains figuring out. He said that he didn’t have any answers for the events.
