Rapper Badshah has found himself in hot water with the Haryana State Commission For Women due to inappropriate lyrics in his newest Haryanvi track, ‘Tateeree’. Released earlier this month, it has been widely condemned for the song-writing which demeans the modesty of women, and “violates cultural norms.” The musician is well-known for his Bollywood numbers such as ‘Garmi’. Read on to find out more about his case.

Badshah’s Tateeree Lands Him A Summons With Haryana Women’s Commission

The Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) took suo moto cognisance (deciding to address by itself) of the matter relating to Badshah’s supposed indecent lyrics that flouts cultural standards and is disrespectful to women and children. According to the Commission, the proceedings against the singer were commenced following several complaints against ‘Tateeree’.

The summons was officially introduced on March 6, 2026, with Aditya Pratik Singh Sisodia (Badshah’s government name) being the first respondent. Written to the Panipat Superintendent of Police, it instructs them to bring forth all the concerned parties at the hearing. Set for 11.30 am on March 13, the hearing will take place at the DC Office in Panipat. The clear instructions are standard for summons of this kind.

Former Central Board member Renu Bhatia is the Chairperson of the Haryana Women’s Commission. She will preside over the upcoming hearing on Friday, March 13 as well. NGOs by the name of Nari Tu Narayani Utthan Samiti and Shiv Aarti India Foundation were the original complainants. Their heads reaching out to HSWC with their concerns about the music video and lyrics which demeaned women. They were also worried about the song’ impact on younger children.

The Problem With Tateeree By Badshah

Badshah’s Tateeree has several problematic lines according to the Women’s Commission. The line “Aaya Badshah Doli Chadhane, Inn Sab Ki Ghodi Banane” comes after schoolgirls in uniform are shown dancing around. Obviously the fact that the dancers are insinuated to be underage is an issue. Additionally, implying that women are like horses or even just good for marriage gives one the ick.

While on its surface, the Tateeree problem might seem too little to get stressed about, Badshah is a public figure with influence. The Women’s Commission is right to have taken action against the same. Hopefully, the singer will now revaluate the way he writes his lyrics. The ‘Saturday Saturday’ singer is obligated to appear at the hearing as summoned on March 13. As of publication, the video for the song has been taken down.
