Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver got married back in 1986 and it was in 2011 when they filed for a divorce. The divorce came soon after the Hollywood actor admitted that he had a relationship with their housekeeper and also was a father to Joseph Baena, his and the housekeeper’s son. The couple ever since the filing of the divorce have been living separately.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver are parents to four kids of their own – Katherine (32-years-old), Christina (30-years-old), Patrick (28-years-old), and Christopher (24-years-old). Talking about his split a while ago, the Predator actor had said, “It’s a very tough situation for him. It’s a very tough situation for my kids. Very tough situation for my family. It was tough for everybody. But it has happened and now we have to figure it out, right?”

Ever since their split, the couple has always remained cordial with each other and also co-parented their four kids. In fact, the reports suggest that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver have also embraced their roles as grandparents to Katherine’s 16-month-old daughter, Lyla, extremely well. Speaking about the former couple’s role as grandparents, Katherine said, “It’s such a great and cool new role for both of them to be able to experience. Also, for me as their daughter to watch them in this new role is such a beautiful thing.”

I think that there are majorly two types of divorces – messy ones and clean ones. And hearing about this former couple, one thing is for sure, that their divorce belongs to the latter category. Honestly, I believe that it is because of this they can continue playing the roles of parents and grandparents so well.
