Arjun Kapoor recently opened up about facing mental and physical health challenges, including mild depression and Hashimoto’s disease. While discussing his new role in Singham Again in a recent interview, Arjun Kapoor shared details about his personal journey, dealing with these conditions and their impact on his life and career.

Arjun Kapoor On Battling Depression

After a few of his recent films did not perform as expected, Arjun Kapoor began to feel emotionally drained. Initially unsure of what was happening, he noticed a growing sense of discouragement, which eventually led him to seek therapy. Through sessions with different therapists, he eventually found one who helped him identify his struggles as mild depression, a condition often influenced by circumstances and life events. Arjun mentioned how growing up with a “fat kid” identity added to his emotional weight, shaping his self-image and confidence over the years.

He also shared his experience with Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune condition that affects the thyroid gland. This disorder leads to the body mistakenly attacking its own thyroid, which can result in hypothyroidism or, in rare cases, hyperthyroidism. Since the thyroid plays a key role in regulating metabolism, Hashimoto’s can impact various bodily functions, including energy levels, mood, and weight. Kapoor noted that even travel can disrupt his body’s stability, placing it in a fight-or-flight state. His mother, Mona Shourie Kapoor, and sister, Anshula Kapoor, have also faced similar thyroid-related health issues.

Hashimoto’s disease symptoms can range from fatigue and weight gain to muscle pain and intolerance to cold. Other signs include dry skin, thinning hair, irregular periods, and sometimes even slowed heart rate. Since the thyroid influences nearly every organ, the disorder can profoundly impact daily life.

Arjun Kapoor acknowledged the physical and emotional toll these experiences have taken on him over the years, especially as he’s tried to manage both his career and health. On the work front, Arjun Kapoor recently starred in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again where he played the character of a menacing villain named Danger Lanka and his portrayal of the character has been receiving a lot of praise from fans and critics alike.
