Parents’ separation is never easy on the children. While some parents do it wonderfully, others get confused about how to handle it. Bollywood star Arjun Kapoor has time and again spoken about the effects of his parents – Boney Kapoor and Mona Shourie. During a recent conversation, the actor opened up about how this experience shaped him and how he dealt with the aftermath.
Arjun Kapoor On Parents’s Divorce
During a recent conversation with Raj Shamani on his podcast, actor Arjun Kapoor opened up about his parents’ divorce. He shared, “Unlocking your core memory is tough when you have been through trauma. If you look at my life, scan through it, there has been enough trauma in terms of I lost my mother when I was 25.” He revealed that this happened just before his film Ishaqzaade was released.
Kapoor revealed how traumatic it was to lose his mother, the backbone of his life just before the start of his career. He continued by saying that his parents got divorced when he was just 10 and that he didn’t realise that it would shape or change him. But looking back, it did impact him. He revealed how his father was making two big films – Prem and Roop Ki Rani Choro Ka Raja at the time and was under a lot of pressure.

This led to them not having a normal father-son relationship where Boney Kapoor came to pick up or drop him off at school. Arjun said that even though Boney tried, it didn’t happen for them. Looking back, it was slightly traumatic for him. He revealed that this led him to mature early.
But after all this, the last five years have been a healing time for the duo. He shared how he had been spending a lot more time with him. Over the last five years, I have spent more time with him. Again, in traumatic situations, the bridging of our relationship happened,” Kapoor said.
