Veteran singer AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu had recently announced their divorce after 29 years of marriage. The couple along with their three kids- A.R. Ameen and daughters Khatija and Raheema Rahman made this announcement through their legal representative. After this, there have been rumours of the singer taking a year-long break. These were dispelled by their children saying that they were baseless.
AR Rahman’s Kids React To His Rumoured Break
Reacting to a now-deleted X (Formerly Twitter) that claimed that AR Rahman would be taking a year-long break from work, his daughter Khatija said, Please stop spreading such useless rumours.” His son also stepped forward and reacted to the forward.
Taking to his Instagram stories, Ameen shared a screenshot of the news article and wrote, “Fake News. This is false.” AR Rahman and Saira announced their split, citing ‘ significant emotional strain in their relationship’. The couple got married in 1995. The pair requested privacy in a joint statement distributed by their lawyer.

His divorce statement said, “After many years of marriage, Saira and her husband, A R. Rahman, have made the difficult decision to separate from each other. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time.”
A few days later, the music composer issued a legal warning in response to defamatory social media posts regarding an alleged affair with his bassist Mohini Dey.
