Popular Indian music composer AR Rahman announcing separation from his wife Saira Banu after 29 years of marriage was shocking for everyone. But what’s even more shocking was hours after this announcement, his bassist Mohini Dey also announced her separation from her husband Mark Hartsuch. While this news would have been completely normal, the timing of both separations stunned the fans!

AR Rahman’s Bassist Announces Her Separation Too

On Tuesday, November 19, Mohini Dey and her husband Mark Hartsuch in a joint Instagram post wrote, “With a heavy heart, Mark and I announce that we have separated. First, as a commitment to our friends and family, this is a mutual understanding between us. While we remain great friends, we both have decided that we want different things in life and separation through mutual agreement was the best way to proceed.”

They further stated that even though they would be separated, they would not stop working together. She concluded by requesting everyone support them and be positive towards them without judgment. See their announcement here!

Mohini Dey, 29, is a bassist from Kolkata and a member of Gaan Bangla’s Wind of Change. She has performed with AR Rahman in over 40 gigs worldwide and will release her self-titled debut album in August 2023.
