Anurag Kashyap Calls Out T-Series
In a conversation with The Juggernaut, Anurag Kashyap called out T-Series for paying him less for some of his cult classic films. This included the likes of Dev D, Gangs of Wasseypur, and Gulaal. The music of these films is considered groundbreaking and still has much influence over people. But in a cheeky remark, Kashyap said, “If Bhushan Kumar is not buying it, then it is good music. If T-Series is not buying it, it is great music. T-Series doesn’t buy good music at a good price.”

The music label, which is still making profits off of these soundtracks, hasn’t paid the director adequately. He believed that the label stresses commercial appeal above quality, paying large sums only when major stars appear. He also highlighted a case involving his 2015 film Bombay Velvet. According to Anurag, T-Series paid adequately for the film despite them not liking the soundtrack. He claimed that they only pay for the ‘star’ in it. This implied that the music giant’s financial decisions depended on the star power rather than musical merit.
T-Series team or Bhushan Kumar has yet to respond to this comment. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know!
