Amitabh Bachchan Faces Backlash Over Tweet Praising France WC Team. Internet Calls It Racist!

X, formerly known as Twitter, is a platform where people freely share their thoughts and opinions. While some posts create positive conversations, others spark heated disagreements and debates. Recently, actor Amitabh Bachchan found himself at the centre of a major controversy after posting about the France football team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His comment quickly divided users online and led to intense discussions. Read on to know all about it.

What Did Amitabh Bachchan Say About The France World Cup Team?

On July 6, Amitabh Bachchan shared a tweet about the French team. He noted that out of 11 players, 10 were Black and only one was white. He described the situation as the power of Black players. Many people criticised the remark and said the actor focused too much on skin colour instead of the players’ talent. They felt the tweet was racist and reduced the athletes to their race rather than celebrating their skills.

Others came forward to support the actor. They believed he wanted to praise the Black players for their strong performance and contribution to the team. However, they admitted that his choice of words was poor and could easily be misunderstood. Some pointed out that as an older person, Amitabh Bachchan may not have expressed his thoughts in the best way, but his intention was not to hurt anyone.

The incident once again shows how quickly things can blow up on social media. Even a simple message from a public figure like Amitabh Bachchan can lead to big arguments. While some fans asked people to understand the context and forgive the phrasing, others demanded explanation.
