Amitabh Bachchan has been famous for his poetic thoughts, thunderous presence on screen, and the odd sentimental social media post. One thing that fans notice, however, is how freely he speaks about his son Abhishek Bachchan, particularly in the course of promoting films, while barely speaking of his wife Jaya Bachchan or daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the same manner. Here’s what he said about it,
Amitabh Bachchan On Praising Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan
This query resurfaced quite recently when Big B posted a picture on Instagram, showing photos of himself meeting fans in front of his Mumbai bungalow, Jalsa. With the photos, he captioned a brief and straightforward statement: “Yes, I praise Abhishek. So?” The post had an interesting comment from a fan which read, “Toh, you should also praise your daughter, daughter-in-law, wife the same way.”
To this, Amitabh had given a rare and revealing response. He had penned, “Yes I shall praise them in my heart. not publicly. respect for the ladies.” This muted yet strong declaration appeared to clear the air. For Amitabh, gratitude for women in his family need not be accompanied by fanfare or public announcements. He suggested a more profound, personal kind of respect, one which he prefers to retain as private.
Jaya Bachchan, the renowned actress and parliamentarian, was last seen on screen in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the international icon and one-time Miss World, recently stunned audiences in Mani Ratnam’s sweeping epics Ponniyin Selvan I and II. Though their work is life-changing, Amitabh would rather silently appreciate their work, out of the limelight.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan was last spotted on screen in Housefull 5, a starry comedy whose cast includes Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Jacqueline Fernandez. Amitabh’s words of vocal approval for his son’s career must be motivated by some other sort of paternal pride, along with optimism in a line of work which isn’t always lenient. Though some of us might wish he’d talk more candidly about Aishwarya and Jaya, Amitabh’s response serves as a reminder that sometimes the greatest respect does not need to be made public; it exists quietly, yet powerfully, in the heart.
