After the release of the shocking Justice Hema Committee Report, many actresses from the Tamil and Malayalam industries have come ahead and narrated stories of s*xual harassment. A series of confrontations and allegations have stunned the nation, with many claiming that such horrible crimes occur throughout the entertainment industry. Anow now, popular Hindi television actor Kamya Punjabi voiced her opinion on women’s safety in the entertainment industry. The actor claimed that there is no s*xual abuse in the television industry and that it’s a safe space for women.

Kamya Punjabi Says TV Is A Safe Space For Women

In a conversation with News18 Showsha, the Ishq Jabariya actor called the television industry the safest place for women and claimed that there is no abuse or casting couch here. She said that it’s a very clean space and that people aren’t forced or blackmailed there. She added there is no casting couch and that if one is fit for a role and has the talent, they will be selected. She further said that there is no s*xual abuse there and that whatever happens, happens because there is mutual consent. “Nobody is telling anyone to sleep with them in the promise of a role.” She said.

The Ishq Jabariya actor admitted that there are actors who may be womanisers, but made a big claim by saying that things do not happen in the television industry if there is no mutual consent. She said that no one will touch one if they say that they don’t like it. She expressed that they have seen actors go crazy for women but no one forces anyone. She continued by admitting that she knew of people who have said that such things have happened to them but she said that if a girl doesn’t want it to happen it will not happen. “I don’t know about films or OTT but it does not happen in TV,” she added.

Kamya Punjabi debuted as an actress in Ssshhhh…Koi Hai. Later, she was roped by daily soap operas like Piya Ka Ghar, Astitva…Ek Prem Kahani, Banoo Main Teri Dulhann, Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, and Kehta Hai Dil. The actor took part in Bigg Boss 7, a celebrity reality show, as well. Currently, Kamya appears in the television series Ishq Jabariya.
