Ameesha Patel Grieves Dharmendra’s Death, Reveals He Considered Her As “Ghar Ki Beti”
Ameesha recalled how Dharmendra always treated her like family.
As the film industry is in mourning the death of the legendary actor Dharmendra, actress Ameesha Patel shared emotional memories of the late star and said the loss was “deeply personal”. Following his demise, the actor is survived by his wives Prakash Kaur and Hema Malini, sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, and daughters Esha, Ahana, Ajeeta and Vijeta Deol. His funeral at Mumbai’s Pawan Hans crematorium was attended by top names from the industry, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan.
Ameesha Patel On Dharmendra’s Death
Speaking to News18, Ameesha Patel said she has not yet contacted the family as she felt that they deserved privacy and space during this emotionally overwhelming period. She said grieving is very personal, and the Deols must not have the added pressure of returning calls and giving condolences. However, she intended to visit them as soon as she returned to Mumbai.
Ameesha Patel also recalled going to see Dharmendra at Breach Candy Hospital earlier this month, when he was admitted due to respiratory problems. The mood, she said, was thick with worry, and the near ones who came to visit him, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Govinda, and Ameesha herself, were brief visitors, conveying silent support. She recalls hugging Sunny Deol during the visit as he appeared devastated, trying to come to terms with his dad’s critical condition.
Recalling her long association with the veteran actor, Ameesha shared memories dating back to before her breakout in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. She recalled his warmth, his sharp memory, and the moments when he would remind her of a film they once discussed, in which he was to play the role of her father. She told of how he always treated her like “Ghar Ki Beti” and how his encouraging words fuelled her confidence throughout her career.
Along with being an iconic star of his time, Dharmendra is also remembered by Ameesha Patel for being a kind human and a good role model for his children.

The actress also took to Instagram to share a tribute to Dharmendra. She wrote a long paragraph in the caption, expressing her grief.
