Popular Tamil-actor-turned-politician Vijay aka Thalapathy, has found himself amid yet another controversy. This was after a police complaint was filed against him for reportedly insulting the Muslim community during an Iftar event. Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamaat at the Chennai Police Commissioner’s office filed this complaint. They demanded legal action against him for hurting religious sentiments.
Complaint Filed Against Thalapathy Vijay
According to recent reports, the complaint was filed by Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamaat’s state treasurer Syed Ghous. He claimed that Vijay’s Iftar event was hurtful and offensive to the Muslim community. He also mentioned how individuals who have no connection to fasting or Islamic practices, including ‘drunkards and rowdies’ were present there. This, according to him, amounted to an insult to the sanctity of Iftar.
In his words, the Iftar event organised by Vijay’s Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) was attended by people who have no understanding of the religious significance of fasting and Iftar. Their participation was disrespectful and offensive to Muslims.” Ghous also accused Vijay of failing to make proper arrangements for the event, leading to chaos.
Syed Ghous also mentioned how Thalapathy Vijay showed no penitence for the alleged discomfort at the Iftar event. He questioned his sincerity in participating in religious events, claiming that his actions were politically motivated rather than any genuine respect. He said that people were treated like cattle and that the actor’s bodyguards handled the crowd in an inhumane manner. He then urged for action to be taken against Vijay.
