According to sources, the couple met in 2022 while attending workshops for The Glory. This was the time when they started developing feelings for each other. Their dynamics in the K-drama were one of the reasons why fans did not think that Lee Do Hyun and Lim Ji Yeon would be in a relationship with each other.
The two characters were always at each other’s throats on screen. Then, on 15 December 2022, the couple was spotted out on a cosy date and were said to have spent the day together at Lee Gong Hyun’s residence in Geumho District, Seoul. The couple was also spotted the another date together, the next day.

Their relationship was confirmed by the Korean media house, Dispatch, on April 1, 2023. The official statement read that the pair have gone from being close colleagues to getting know know each other with positive feelings. Later that year, the couple were seen on a date in Gangneung. The owner of the restaurant shared a picture of the autograph he received from the couple. He also talked about how beautiful the couple looked together.
Lee Do Hyun and Lim Ji Yeon rarely talk about their relationship in public; however, Do Hyun did mention his girlfriend in a rare moment. While doing promotions for his K-drama The Good Bad Mother, Do Hyun was asked if the couple uses pet names to address each other. The actor replied that though the couple do not use pet names, they talk comfortably to each other despite the 5-year age difference.
