Misusing these tools, some internet users have been indulging in some serious cybercrime and it definitely is concerning. One such concerning conversation is around deepfakes, which use AI to circulate fake celebrity faces. And after actresses Rashmika Mandanna, Kajol and Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt is the latest victim of this trend.
Recently, a woman morphed Alia Bhattās face and placed it on herself in a video. The same, sparked controversy on the internet, as many opposed the circulation of deepfakes. This edited video featured an unknown woman, Bhattās face was used. This woman is seen lying on her bed, wearing a printed co-ordinated set. The person was seen doing some weird gestures in the video and posing for the camera.

Well, this isnāt the first time that an actress has turned victim to deepfakes. Previously, actresses Rashmika Mandanna, Kajol and Katrina Kaifās faces were morphed to make fake videos. Many celebrities including these actresses and cricketer Sachin Tendulkarās daughter Sara, spoke about the same and warned the culprits to not cross their lines. This misuse of technology is a serious threat to women in the limelight, as it takes away a lot of their vanity.
This previous week, reacting to the ongoing trend of deepfakes, the Union Minister alongside the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) announced the placement of a strict mechanism for the same. The committee curated a list of rules to catch hold of the culprits and hold them accountable under the laws.
