If there’s one person who shone brighter than a star in Dhurandhar, that’s undoubtedly Akshaye Khanna who played Rehman Dakait in the film. Mukesh Chhabra Reveals Akshaye Khanna’s Casting Story
During his conversation with India Today, Dhurandhar’s casting director, Mukesh Chhabra revealed that when he came in, Ranveer Singh had already agreed to do the film. He added that once a huge actor signs the film, it’s difficult to get other stars. Mukesh Chhabra further recalled that when he suggested Akshaye Khanna’s name to play Rehman Dakait, everyone got excited but also doubted whether he would agree to play the part. The casting director admitted that by then he had not watched Chhaava, in which Akshaye played Aurangzeb. When he called the actor, he first scolded him, asking if he had gone mad. Mukesh Chhabra then requested him to at least hear him out once after which he called the Hulchul actor to his office.
While recalling how their meeting went, the casting director revealed that Akshaye arrived at his office and stayed for four hours. While he narrated the story, the actor quietly listened and kept on smoking. Mukesh Chhabra added that when they were done, the actor loved the story, complimenting that it was very good. He also expressed that he had fun listening to it. Then, after a while, it was Akshaye who confirmed he would sign on to the project by calling Mukesh Chhabra.

Apart from Akshaye Khanna and Ranveer Singh, Dhurandhar also featured R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Danish Pandor, Sara Arjun and more. The film, which was directed by Aditya Dhar, became a huge box office successes of 2025. Even after a month of its release, the fans cannot help but talk about it on social media.
