Ajay Devgn Feels Men Today Aren’t Masculine Enough, Blame’s Change In Upbringing For It. Wait, What?

In the 21st century when we as a generation are trying hard to eradicate elements of patriarchy such as se*ism and toxic masculinity, sometimes the people we look up to take all of it in a different direction. Such was the case when in a recent interview, Singham Again star Ajay Devgn highlighted how not a lot of male actors in the industry could be considered as “male.”

Ajay Devgn On Men In The Industry

During his recent conversation on The Ranveer Show, Ajay Devgn talked about the men in the industry. He took the example of veteran actors such as Jackie Shroff and Sunny Deol saying that they acted like men in the films. In his words,  “In today’s world, you don’t see a dominating male personality. All are boys; you don’t see men-men. In the earlier generation, we saw men—even in my generation, from Jackie Shroff to Amitabh Bachchan, they were all men.”

He mentioned how when Akshay Kumar thrashed ten people on screen or when Sunny Deol pulled out a hand pump, the audience would believe it, but in today’s generation, it is not believable. He highlighted how the audience doesn’t; believe that any actor could do such action. During the same conversation, Devgn highlighted how the industry lacks a dominating male personality because of the change in upbringing.

He said, “There’s been a change in upbringing, and you don’t become a man just by building a body. There’s an attitude and approach toward life that’s missing.” While Ajay Devgn might mean something else, building toxic standards for men just because they HAVE to be muscular and not soft, is really wrong and actually takes us 2 steps back.
