When an actor repeatedly plays a character of the same name, it is rightly considered iconic! Shah Rukh Khan is some such actor who played Rahul in almost five different films, and all the roles are memorable! And now Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has gone to play Nandini twice in her career so far. Once, she played a character of this name in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and for the second time, the actress played a character of this name in the Ponniyin Selvan movies. In a recent media interaction, Aishwarya shared what was is it like to play two characters who were so different from each other of the same.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recently addressed a press conference organised ahead of the release of the Mani Ratnam epic PS-2. Here, she was asked what was it like to play Nandini twice. Aishwarya replied by saying that it was a ‘beautiful coincidence’, and that this has never happened before with her.

Elaborating more about her experience of playing Nandini in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial and in Mani Ratnam’s films, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said that her character in the former is very memorable and has lived in the hearts of the people. She further added that she considers it a blessing that she gets to play such strong and layered characters and is grateful for it!

In the epic Mani Ratnam historical films, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays a dual role. In the first part, she played Queen Nandini, and her second role is as Oomai Rani or Mandankini. PS-2 is all set to hit theatres on April 28, 2023. The ensemble cast of the film includes Trisha, Sobhita Dhulipala, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, and Karthi, among others.
