Recently, comedian Aishwarya Mohanraj made a YouTube video where she opened up about using Mounjaro and the results. While many on the internet commended her for this confession, others shamed her for doing the same. But Bollywood actor Soha Ali Khan has stood up for her and said, “So finally someone said it. They lost a ton of weight not just by eating right or working out, but by taking Mounjaro. And I think it takes great courage to speak the truth.”
She requested people to always take the doctor’s advice and not trust any celebrity’s word while considering weight loss drugs. She said that these are not just weight loss drugs but are only for a certain number of people. Mohanraj confessed to struggling with weight loss despite following strict diets and exercise. She said that her biggest insecurity was her double chin, which led her to stop making videos and then she took this drug every day for 6 months, and in 6 months, she went from 74 kgs to 52 kgs.

Ozempic and Mounjaro both belong to the GLP-1 receptor agonist category. These are drugs that imitate glucagon-like peptide-1, a hormone generated by the gut. This hormone increases insulin production, decreases blood sugar levels, and slows stomach emptying, reducing hunger and increasing feelings of fullness. The difference between them is-
Mounjaro (generic name: tirzepatide) targets two receptors: GLP-1 and GIP. It is presently approved to treat type 2 diabetes and has demonstrated significant weight loss benefits. Ozempic (generic name: semaglutide) is a type 2 diabetes medication that only targets the GLP-1 receptor. It is prescribed to adults with cardiovascular risk factors.
