After School’s Lizzy Cries On Instagram Live, Fans Offer Support!
Also known by her birth name, Park Soo Young, Lizzy started a livestream on her personal Instagram last Wednesday. As with any female celebrity, the comments turned to her appearance. When the spiteful remarks got too much, Park looked disturbed.
She attempted to explain that she wasn’t looking like she used to due to surgery, and eventually burst into tears. Formerly After School’s Lizzy also elaborated on being a woman in entertainment, saying that it was “so much tougher for female idols.” If anyone asked her about becoming a celebrity, she would advice them to do otherwise, she said.
The former After School member opened up about her struggles with depression, saying her social media had been banned due to sharing concerning statements. This prompted fans to flood the comment section with supportive messages. Park Soo Young spoke about suffering, but thankfully ended on a positive note, saying that floundering when it’s tough is okay. She concluded by thanking her fans for getting through another day, almost speaking to herself, too.
After School’s Lizzy: What Has She Been Up To?
Making her debut with After School in 2011, with ‘Bang!’ under Pledis Entertainment, Lizzy became an unmissable part of the group. A third of the iconic Orange Caramel sub-unit with Nana and Raina, she has been part of many memorable K-pop numbers, including ‘Catallena’, ‘Bangkok City’, and ‘Shanghai Romance’. While she left After School in 2018, maintaining that she would be open to another comeback with Orange Caramel if the other members were amenable to the same.
In 2021, Park Soo Young’s driver’s licence was revoked due to an accident. Since then, she kept a low profile, only returning to entertainment with a fanmeeting in Tokyo last year. Lizzy has become somewhat of a celebrity on TikTok, too.
