As Aespa is set to make their comeback in June, Karina has once again taken to the messaging platform, Bubble, to communicate with their fans, MYs. The girl group member recently came under hot water for posting a picture that many thought supported a particular political party. This is Karina’s second time addressing the situation and apologising for it. Read on to know what the K-pop idol said.
What Did Aespa’s Karina Write In Her Apology
She sent a message to fans on Bubble, an app that many K-pop idols use to talk to their fans. In it, Karina opened up about her emotions and reflected on her period of silence that followed the controversy. She thanked MYs for their patience and offered a heartfelt apology for causing concern.
She wrote, “I know you’ve been waiting for a long time right. Since you waited, I practised and prepared really hard. I’m really sorry and thankful for making you worry all this time. Are you doing well??.” Karina concluded her message by telling her fans that she missed them.
Mixed Reaction To The Apology
Karina’s message was met with a lot of support from fans online. Her response went viral, garnering thousands of views and comments. Many praised the K-pop idol for addressing the situation once again and not burying the issue. However, she still faced criticism from many on the internet for her previous actions.
Few netizens claim that the political controversy in which Karina was embroiled was very severe, and they cannot view her in the same light as before. They also pointed out that some words used in Karina’s message reminded them of the terminology used by a South Korean far-right online platform. There are debates online about whether this way of writing was unintentional or planned by Karina.
What Was The Controversy All About
Karina’s scandal started on May 27, when she uploaded a set of pictures on Instagram. One of them included her wearing a red jacket with the number 2 on it. She was also showing a peace sign gesture to the camera in the photo and included a rose emoji in the caption. People instantly thought that she was extending her support to a controversial and conservative political party through the picture.
Though Karina deleted her Instagram post swiftly, the situation had already gotten out of control. She received immense backlash from the post and issued a lengthy apology on Bubble. Her company, SM Entertainment, also clarified that Karina’s post contained no deliberate political message in a statement.
Aespa will be coming back with their new song ‘Dirty Work’ on 27 June. The group has released an exciting performance video teaser for the same!
