Election season in South Korea is a sensitive time, and famous personalities refrain from making any type of gesture or wearing a colour that may seem like they are supporting a particular party. Karina was speculated to endorse the People Power Party. In the picture, she wore a red jacket and held up a peace sign. Both the colour and the number are the parties’ representative symbols.
Further, she captioned the post with a rose emoji, which is also associated with the party. The reason for this massive backlash was that the People Power Party is a controversial body in South Korea. They are known for their regressive stance on many issues, including those concerning women.
