Sumukhi Suresh On Women’s Safety
During the interview, “The moment you tell girls to come home early, you have already started putting fear in them. Then it applies itself in so many things. Some girls have a lower-risk appetite. Because you’re constantly like, ‘Oh no, but no, no, I won’t go at 6 PM; Mom told me not to.” It’s deeply saddening that such restrictions are placed on women. Honestly, it just shrinks them into this world. The fear instilled from a young age just limits their potential and freedom. She also remembered a bad experience: “Literally, how many times have I stood there, and I’ve turned around, and the boys’ eyes were on my butt. And I’m like (gives a look).” To which the boys say, “Oh no, no, something fell down there.” In response, Sumukhi says, “What fell down, brother? Did your opinion fall down? Yes, what’s happening?
