Hidden Details In Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana
1. The Crown vs The Exile
An interesting detail you might have missed in the Ramayana teaser is the shots going directly from Lord Rama, almost being crowned as king, dressed in royal finery, to him being dressed in simple robes, emotionally bidding goodbye to the 14-year-long exile. The teaser also featured the chariot given to him being pulled through a saddened crowd as he left the kingdom.
2. Protection Of Dandaka Forest
3. Sita’s Swayamvar
As per the old tale, Sita’s father, King Janaka, pledged to marry her to anyone who could lift and string the big Pinaka bow. And after multiple attempts by many kings, it was Rama who calmly lifted it, and this scene was featured in the teaser as well. There are also shots of Rama strolling through a crowd while being showered with petals, implying that the film contains the swayamvar.
4. Ravana’s Pushpaka Vimanam
Ranavna’s divine flying palace, called Pushpaka Vimananam, is also depicted in the film as a flying peacock. It’s a lotus-shaped flying object that was originally built for Kubera, and ultimately seized by Ravana, who used it to abduct Sita to Lanka. It is also the chariot that Rama uses to return to Ayodhya after the conflict, before giving it back to Kubera.
5. Jatayu’s Last Rites
Some graphics in the trailer suggest Rama administering Jatayu’s final rites. Jatayu, a long-time friend of King Dasharatha, dies while attempting to save Sita from Ravana’s abduction. To celebrate his unselfish and valiant sacrifice, Rama administers his final rites with the same reverence as he would for his father.
