If you’ve discovered that your Instagram feed isn’t showing the content you’re looking for, it may be time to update the platform’s algorithm. Instagram tailors your experience based on your interactions, but it may quickly become overburdened with irrelevant stuff.
If you’re bored of repeatedly clicking the ‘not interested’ option, there’s some good news. Instagram is launching a feature that allows users to refresh their suggestions. This essentially resets your Explore page, home feed, and Reels tab, letting the algorithm learn and propose stuff you appreciate.
Meta is developing a new feature that allows you to reset your Instagram algorithm, giving you a fresh start. In an Instagram post, Adam Mosseri revealed that the business is experimenting with allowing users to remove their suggestions across the Explore page, Reels, and feed for a fresh start.
While we wait, here’s how you can manually do it!

How To Reset Your Instagram Algorithm
1. The first step is to clear your Instagram history by going to your profile and clicking on the three dots. Tap on Your Activity and tap on Recent Searches. Further, press All Clear to delete your history. But you have to remember that this is permanent and cannot be undone.
2. For you to influence what comes on your feed, be selective about your interactions. When you come across a post which you don’t like, tap on the three dots and click on not interested. Interact with content you like more than the one you don’t like. The algorithm will automatically adapt to your likes.
3. If you want to refresh your Instagram feed and find new content, tap on the search icon on your app and if available, tap on “See All” near the search bar to refresh content.
This will help repopulate your Explore page with ideas that are more relevant to your new choices.
