What Is A Revenge P*rn?

To put it in simple terms, Revenge p*rn means to spread intimate and explicit pictures or s*x videos of a woman on social media or porn websites. It’s mostly done by an ex-partner who just wants to seek some kind of satisfaction by taking this ugly route.

What Should A Victim Do In Such A Situation?

Content creator Nakshatra Bagwe makes many useful videos around this topic to spread awareness among women. In an exclusive interview with us, he gave some immediate steps that a victim should take if they have fallen victim to the revenge p*rn. Nakshatra said, “Always remember when someone is trying to scam you threaten you, or degrade you, they are not first targeting your modesty or bank balance or body. They are targeting your psychology and mind. They want to scare you, they want to make you panic. When they get you there, you will act according to their demands, either physical or financial. Sometimes they just want to disturb you.” Nakshatra strictly recommends not giving in to the culprits, instead, he said, “Go on the flight mode, sit down, relax, accept that it has happened. Generally, a lot of victims go into self-blaming, they think about the wrong steps and suicidal tendencies pop up. Accept that it was a mistake, we learn from mistakes. Call a friend, a female friend preferably and then prepare yourself to face it.”

Adding to this, Nakshatra said, “You should first identify the website, there is always an option of content removal. When  you scroll down on the website, look for this option or if it is not there, there is an option of contact us where you get a form that you need to fill to report the matter.”

How To Report The Matter Effectively?

Nakshatra Bagwe said there are two options to report these matters but most people know the basic one which is to click on the three dots and report it. However, he believes that this method is not an effective one. He went on to share the second option which most people are not aware of. Nakshatra said, “It’s an advanced level of reporting that is by filling a form. That applies to Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. If you Google search Instagram privacy violation form. The first option is very automated, the second is very humanised. In the second one, you deal with one person from the backend of the social media and they handle your case. It takes some time, a couple of days or a week, but it’s very effective.” Nakshatra Bagwe also highlighted the importance of the art of reporting and that he plans to spread this awareness through social media. He has shared many videos on his Instagram handle too!
