2 AM Stories: Journalist Stalked By Man In Amritsar, “He Came In Front Of Me…”

The topic of women’s safety is often mentioned but rarely discussed deeply. Despite the attention, real changes are hard to find. In a recent episode of Hauterrfly’s 2 AM Stories, journalist Janvi Manchanda explored Amritsar to see if a woman could safely walk alone at night. Her experience was troubling and revealed serious safety concerns for women in public places. Read on to fully know what happened.

Journalist Opens Up On Chilling Encounter With Man

The host walked through Ranjeet Avenue and was busy with a work call. She soon noticed people staring at her, and one man in a car began following her. At first, she thought he might be waiting for someone but later he stopped his car in front of her, blocked her path and showed no shame or fear. Even with a police van nearby, he acted without hesitation. And this lack of fear made her feel unsafe and frustrated.

The area around her added to her unease. Dark, deserted construction sites and empty alleys surrounded Ranjeet Avenue. These spots felt dangerous, as if anything could happen without anyone noticing. No rickshaws passed by for nearly half an hour, and the lack of people paying attention made the situation even scarier.

The host also noticed that there were far more men than women in the area. These deserted spaces made her worry about what could happen if an incident occurred. No one would likely hear or help. The experience left her shaken and made her realise how risky it is for a woman to be alone in such a place late at night.

Based on her experience, Janvi Manchanda shared practical advice. She said, “I would suggest either you drive down or you book a car or a cab that stays with you. So you can get out of there as and when you want. Definitely don’t go alone. That’s my top tip. Please be very aware of your surroundings.”
