Zendaya Bags Best Actress Emmy For Euphoria, Says Her Wish Was For The Show To Help People Heal

At the young age of 26, Zendaya has managed to not only make her mark in the entertainment industry but she has also managed to carve out a special place for herself. But the actress has now taken it a notch higher by making history yet again. Earlier, in 2020, Zendaya set an Emmys record after she won her first award for playing the lead in the television drama series Euphoria. She became the youngest actress to win an Emmy for her role in Euphoria Season 1. And now, once again in 2022, Zendaya has bagged the Outstanding Lead Actress in Drama Series at the 74th Annual Television Academy Awards held on September 13 for her performance in Euphoria Season 2. With this win, the actress has made history yet again but becoming the youngest-ever actress and the first black woman to win an acting award twice. But the highlight of the night was her heartwarming acceptance speech.

Zendaya really just stole the show with her acceptance speech. Accepting the Emmy Award for her outstanding performance in the drama series, Euphoria, the actress shared that she is “honoured” to have been nominated along with the amazing actresses in her category. She went on to thank the cast and crew of the drama series for making a “safe space” to make the show while calling it a “very difficult show”. Thanking Sam Levinson for sharing her character, Rue, with her, Zendaya also thanked him for believing in her even when she did not believe in herself. Speaking about the show, the actress said that her “greatest wish” was for Euphoria to help people heal. She concluded by thanking fans for sharing their story with her. She also told people who have someone like Rue in their lives who have loved her or those for feel like they’re just like Rue, “I want you to know that I am so grateful for your stories. I carry them with me and I carry them with her.”

For the unversed, Zendaya bagged this win after beating the other actors nominated for the award including Jodie Comer for Killing Eve, Laura Linney for Ozark, Melanie Lynskey for Yellojackets, Sandra Oh for Killing Eve and Reese Witherspoon for The Morning Show. In 2020 too, Zendaya won the award by beating Melanie Lynskey nominated for Yellojackets, Laura Linney for Ozark, Reese Witherspoon for The Morning Show and Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh for Killing Eve.
