We know that you woke up feeling good today because the Indian women’s cricket team made us proud by winning the ICC World Cup trophy, after their match against South Africa. It seems that the celebration for this achievement isn’t over yet. There may be a victory parade in store where fans will get to see women in blue, who made history. Read on to know the details about the same!

Will There Be A Victory Parade?

Our Sunday couldn’t have gotten any better after seeing India beat South Africa in the Women’s Cricket World Cup by 52 runs! As far as the grand celebration via victory parade goes, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told IANS that nothing of this sort has been finalised yet. The secretary further revealed that he was leaving to attend ICC meetings in Dubai. Along with him, several other officials were also going to be part of the same. He shared that once they return, they will plan accordingly. After the said meetings, they are expected to reveal the felicitation plans for the team as well. The meetings are scheduled from November 4 to 7 in  Dubai.

Along with that, Saikia also said that they will raise the Asia Cup trophy matter with the ICC and get it back respectfully. For the unversed, the Indian men’s cricket team refused to accept the said trophy from Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman and Asian Cricket Council President, Mohsin Naqvi. Later, the trophy was removed from the presentation ceremony with no explanation. Further, while talking about the Women’s World Cup win, Saikia said that the team also won the Indians’ hearts along with the trophy. He called this achievement a “new dawn” for women’s cricket in India.

We can safely say thwhat the female-led team, in a male-dominated sport is finally getting the recognition it deserves. We, along with many Indians salute them for working twice as hard for their historic World Cup win!
