Velvet Is Ruling Celebrity Wardrobes And These Looks Are Proof That The Plush Fabric Is Worth Investing In This Season

As a kid, I had a stunning velvet co-ord set that I loved dearly. It might not be the most stylish outfit I owned (cause let’s face it, fashion in the 2000s sucked) but I loved the refined fabric, luxurious feel and the sheen that it had. At that time, velvet was in vogue but was predominantly restricted to occasion wear. While velvet was extensively incorporated in embellished lehengas, embroidered sarees and other occasion wear, we seldom saw minimal styles featuring the fabric. This was probably because the weighty and plush material was deemed more suited to festivities and celebrations. However, being away from the fashion scene for a decade or so, velvet has recurred as the hottest trend. But wait, it is nothing like you remember it from the naughts. In 2021, velvet has a new meaning and is officially dominating every category of clothing there is.

From dresses to pants to jackets, velvet is being incorporated in a range of styles, demonstrating the fact that this fabric is so versatile and can be worn on more occasions than one. Plus, the designs are minimal and colours aren’t exclusively deep and dark either. Neon, pastel and even neutral colours are being experimented with using the fabric, which make for aesthetically understated and millennial styles. These gorgeous velvet pieces are ruling the wardrobes of celebrities already, and we have curated some looks we spotted recently that prove that velvet is worth investing this season. Here are 5 celebrity looks featuring the fabric of the moment—velvet.

We love velvet kurtas. They are pretty, posh and perfect Indian wear for winters. However, we love Sara Ali Khan’s quirky fusion wear featuring a makhmal kurta and pants set even more. The all-black velvet set with golden borders and galabandh neck look so royal and classy on well, the Pataudi princess. Makes sense!

Hina Khan wore this relaxed kurta set in cerulean blue and paired it with a peach organza dupatta. The outfit is a bit loose on her which is how the velvet kurta is intended to fall on your silhouette so it can exude its sheen. This look is equal parts trendy and traditional and we love how millennial the design is.
