This Vir Das Video Is The Perfect Response To Anyone Whose Sentiments Got Offended By Ranveer’s Bum, Or Other Trivial Things

Vir Das, one of the best stand-up comedians we’ve got, has always been known to be brutally honest with his audience. He always uses his honest viewpoint as a base for all his comic routines. This is what makes him so appreciated and relatable. His honesty can sometimes also be seen as ‘offensive’ because that’s how our country sees anything that calls out their hypocrisy without mincing words. The comedian and actor has been voicing his opinions about the latest thing to offend people’s dainty sentiments, Ranveer Singh’s photoshoot for Paper Magazine, where Baba is in his birthday suit. And he recently shared a video clip from one of his own shows, which serves as the perfect response to anyone whose sentiments get easily offended by things like this photoshoot, or other trivial stuff.

Vir Das Talks About Sentiments

Vir Das posted a reel titled ‘Sentiments’, where we can see a person questioning his freedom of speech mentioning the fact that freedom of speech is great but, it really shouldn’t offend people or hurt their sentiments, because that is wrong. To this, Vir Das has the most amazing and brutal answer.

We strongly agree with the fact that the country seems to be getting increasingly sensitive day by day. This means that their sentiments are getting overly hurt over almost everything. I mean, Imagine the levels of offence that people seem to be attaching to everything! What’s remarkable is that the sensitivity is only for utterly inconsequential things like this photoshoot and not over real matters that deserve your blood getting riled up. You know, like the state of women’s safety in the country, the lack of political accountability in national matters, caste violence, religious intolerance, and much more.

Oh, but Ranveer Singh is naked? Let’s speak for women who cannot speak for themselves and file a report against him and his offensive ass, saying that he hurt women’s sentiments. While on the other hand, the LGBTQIA+ community around the world is continuously losing their rights, and crimes against women are at an all-time rise. But, we and our sentiments seem to be alright with that. Because as Vir says in the video, that’s not something we can fix. So how about you accept it and move on?

Comedians And The Audience’s Sentiments

Vir Das has been repeatedly talking about the right to speech of comedians and the way society treats them. Recently, he posted another video in which, Vir says, “You come to an Indian comic and you tell us a comedian got slapped, we don’t ask ‘by who?’ we ask ‘With what?’ because that is what the society has come to, we are even judging comedians for making jokes and these mere jokes are hurting our sentiments.

He then adds, “Sedition, defamation, hurting sentiments. What did they get slapped with?” and I’ve got to say, that is exactly what has been occurring lately and it all seems like a big, fat joke. Have we started taking life so seriously that, everything is offending us and hurting our sentiments? That is, everything except the things that actually matter. This is something that needs to change, isn’t it?

Vir Das and brutally honest people like him always land into controversies because we cannot seem to digest the big fat truth, can we? Instead, we take offence to the people to point it out and try to push them to stop talking about it.

We are so far gone that we no longer seem to realise that we’re taking offence to things that don’t even make sense anymore. The photoshoot could be an iconic pop-culture moment but with the speed at which the world changes these days and news is made, it would simply be a blip on the timeline! Can we really not see that any controversy around, and these complaints filed, are simply a matter of gaining two minutes of fame or two pennies?

On the other hand, people of all minorities are suffering at the hands of the government, people are dying due to poverty, depression and suicide rates are rising and that, we’re totally fine with. How does this make sense? We really need to think about this before it’s too late.
