Style File: From Madhuri Dixit’s Belted Saree To Rakul Preet Singh In A Sculpted Top, Last Week’s Looks All About The Drama

We are a sucker for statement sleeves, OTT designs and flamboyant colours that add drama to an outfit. These style elements don’t have to necessarily be there in one single outfit, cause that could really be a fashion disaster, but there’s no doubt that some jazz in your look never hurt anyone Ask the Bollywood celebrities who went all out last week. They stepped out of their comfort zones and while some tried on the most quirky fashion pairings (Madhuri Dixit in a saree with a jacket and a belt), others played around with colours, feathers and sculpted silhouettes. Was there something special last week that made these celebs opt for the snazziest style? Who knows!

We can see the urge to make up for all the boring yoga pants and sweatshirt looks  these celebs donned in the quarantine period. After an indelibly dull year we all had, the desire to resurrect fashion is apparent through their exciting and dramatic sartorial choices these days. Be it a humble dress, an innocent top or a classic saree, celebrities are experimenting with different and unique styles and silhouettes and we are not complaining. We feel the same way and we are not going back to basic and boring fashion either. So, here are five killer looks from last week that are so dramatic, you’d forget celebrities were ever on a style break.

Rakul Preet Singh’s sculpted black top and flared pants can give any red-carpet gown a run for its money. It’s sheer, sexy and totally steal-worthy. She wore this ravishing outfit for an award function, but us non-famous people can wear it on a date night. Since our SOs are already used to our drama, it would work well.

Janhvi Kapoor dropped one eccentric look after another for the promotion of her movie Roohi. She rocked neon, sequins, huge bows and corsets. The only thing left for her to sport was trendy and super gorgeous feathers! So her next look featured exactly that. This see-through bodycon dress adorned with white feathers is as dreamy as dramatic.

Madhuri Dixit Nene’s fancies the contemporary versions of the timeless drapes and her wardrobe consists of plenty of experimental sarees. Last to last week, it was an embellished saree with tiered ruffles in place of pleats, and this time it’s a black bordered saree styled with a sleeveless velvet jacket and jeweled belt around her waist.

Aditi Rao Hydari looks like a modern-day Frieda Kahlo in a green organza saree that she paired with colourful flowers in her hair. This look is absolutely regal and we are taking cues from her, and her stylist, on how to turn a classic look into a striking and statement-making one.

Bhumi dropped the chicest workwear look we have seen in a while. She wore a colour-blocked outfit featuring a rust orange turtleneck top, a brown blazer with a pink slit skirt and nude pumps. Considering we have been attending zoom calls in our PJs till now, I don’t mind going all out for my next office meeting.
