5 Thoughts We Had About ‘Sex Education 3’ Trailer: Happy Otis, Maeve, Eric Are Back, But What About That Voicemail?

Sex Education is one of those rare shows that don’t just make for good television but also make for some good social messaging without getting preachy about it. There are lots of amazing things about this Netflix series, starting with the wide themes it tackles, from STDs to consent to sexual assault, to its amazing cast of actors like Gillian Anderson, who plays the town sexologist, to the younger lot—Asa Butterfield, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Aimee Lou Wood, Connor Swindells and more. But Sex Education Season 3 was highly anticipated because of one specific thing…. A voicemail that Otis Milburn sent to Maeve Wiley and which one cursed character in a wheelchair, Isaac, remove from play, leaving us on a frustrating (in a good way) cliffhanger!

That same frustration is bound to peak because the trailer for Sex Education 3 is now out! Yes!

The show’s synopsis teases a whole new school year full of new highs and lows for the students of Moordale High. Oh and a new principal!

“It’s a new year, Otis is having casual sex, Eric and Adam are official, and Jean has a baby on the way. Meanwhile, new headteacher Hope tries to return Moordale to a pillar of excellence, Aimee discovers feminism, Jackson gets a crush and a lost voicemail still looms. Prepare for commitment animals, alien phenomena, vulva cupcakes and much more of Madam Groff.” Okay who is this new headteacher (Jemima Kirke), we already dislike her, right guys? But not more than Issac (George Robinson), okay. Speaking of Isaac, Jason Isaacs aka Lucius Malfoy from Harry Potter has been cast this season to play Peter Groff, the older, more successful and less modest brother of ex-principal Groff, Adam’s father!

I love that some of my favourite things are back this season, like Otis and Eric’s friendship, which I’ll confess, is actually my favourite ship on this show! Their conversations are the best!

Here are 5 thoughts we had about the new Sex Education Season 3 trailer:

1. Otis! What’s with that moustache, bruh?

I love Otis, and his little eccentricities, which coupled with Eric’s personality, make for such a fun thing to watch! But really, friend, what’s with the moustache? I understand that he’s probably heartbroken since Maeve never returned with an answer, but come on! Although, looks like Otis is getting some (he hooked up with Ruby at his party last season, remember?) despite the ‘stache, so who knows? Maybe it is working!

2. OMG are you guys shipping Eric and Adam hard? Because I am!

Adam and Eric make such an adorable couple, and I cannot wait to see how Adam handles their very public relationship! There’s also the fact that Adam’s parents are estranged, and his uncle has arrived on the scene, so expect family drama galore.

3. Okay, this new principal is really cracking down on the sex lives of her students.

The new headteacher, Holly, from what we know, is a Moordale alumnus, who wants to shut all this focus on teenage sex and sex education and revert Moordale to its former glory and excellence. She’s up against a very formidable adversary that won’t back down. And I don’t mean Otis and Maeve, who might have to do something together to continue the momentum of what they’ve started. I meant hormones. The forbidden is always the most done!

4. I really want to see what’s in store for Dr. Milburn, Aimee, and Jackson this season!

Dr. Jean Milburn is preggers, y’all! This is going to be some family drama at the Milburn home. I see Jackson and Viv are still going strong but is there more happening under all that friendship? And Aimee was crying in the trailer after a conversation with Maeve so what’s happening there? She’s just embarked on her discovery of feminism, and it’s going to be exciting to see what’s in store for her. Also, let’s not forget, Ola and Lilly and Lilly’s alien sex fantasies!

5. But most important question of all—WHAT HAPPENED TO THE VOICEMAIL GUYS?

I mean, do we get the climax (pun intended) we deserve? I seriously hope so!

Sex Education Season 3 arrives on Netflix on September 17, 2021.
