I feel like, at one point or another, all of us have read romance novels and watched movies which have raised our romantic standards. However, how many times have most of us looked back and realised how inappropriate and toxic a lot of these behaviours are? Like, so many times we believe that certain things and behaviours are acceptable just because they sound so romantic in the context of the story. And somehow with the heroine in the plot, we also lose our sense of self-respect and practicality. And as much as we complain about girls who lose their selves because of the toxic men in their lives, we have all been in that place. So let’s get further personally attacked by this Reddit thread of women answering the question, “What is something that is romanticised but shouldn’t be romanticised?”
