Raveena Tandon Reveals How Govinda Silently Supported Her Through A Hard Time. We Stan This Friendship!
I pride myself on being pretty good at dealing with the hard times in my life. I don’t like taking help from others or talking about stuff (which I am aware is not healthy). However, there are days when I do end up feeling alone or isolated in the weird mandated hell I have created for myself. However, I have a handful of friends who give me my space when I need it and silently support me without making me feel like a burden (and I am so grateful for them). And I am certain that Raveena Tandon felt just as grateful for Govinda when he silently held her hand when she was going through a particularly difficult period in her life.
In a recent interview with Film Companion, Raveena Tandon opened up about the hard times she has had to endure due to tabloids and media gossip. She spoke about how she was paired with any man or co-star she shared a platonic relationship with and it went as far as to even being paired with her brother! Now, while I talk about celeb news too, we can all agree, that’s a tad bit too far. According to sources, Raveena opened up about how upset all this gossip made her and she has cried to it.

However, one co-star who has supported Raveena through a lot of these hard times is Govinda (apne pyaare Chi Chi) who she has worked with in movies such as Aunty No. 1, Pardesi Babu and Dulhe Raja. In the interview, she spoke about the time Govinda silently held her hand when she has received some very shocking news and reminded her that she is not alone. “I remember I was in Switzerland, shooting with Chi Chi for something and there was some turmoil going on in my life and I was just sitting with him and he came and said, ‘Did you hear?’ I said, ‘What?’ He broke some news to me. He said, ‘I heard and I thought I should be the first person to come and tell you.’ He just held my hand and sat there while I was in stunned silence. He just sat there and said, ‘Himmat rakh, humlog hai na sab, saath mein hai na?’” I live for wholesome and pure friendships like these!

Raveena said having such close relationships with co-stars was easier back in the day and technology has ruined that in today’s day and age. She reportedly said that nowadays the moment the scene is done, people go back to their phones to click pictures, watch movies or play video games rather than actually getting to know each other. Honestly, where is the lie?
I feel like we sometimes are so blinded by the glamour of the film industry that we forget that these celebrities that have been idolised and put on a pedestal are also human beings with feelings. The perception that money and fame solve all their problems have dehumanized them to the general public. And at times like these, I feel like only these celebs are able to understand each other and be there for each other the way Govinda was there for Raveena Tandon.
