The trailer of the upcoming film Prithviraj starring Akshay Kumar has taken social media by storm already! The audience is showering love on his performance and loving the visuals and grandeur of the film. The film will shed light on the battle that took place between Prithviraj Chauhan and Muhammad Ghori, who wanted to reign India by sitting on the throne from Delhi. Apart from the main story, fans are also curious and keen to know more about Sanyogita, Prithviraj’s wife. This role is played by Manushi Chhillar in the film and she looks absolutely stunning essaying this character! So, for all those wondering and wanting to know more about Sanyogita, here are all the details.
Who Is Sanyogita, Prithviraj Chauhan’s Wife?
The romance between Prithviraj and Sanyogita was penned as an epic titled Prithviraj Raso by the court’s poet Chand Bardai. Sanyogita was known far and wide for her beauty, wit and intelligence and several princes wanted to come to meet her. It is said that there was great rivalry between Sanyogita’s father Jayachand and Prithviraj. Jayachand had written a letter to Prithviraj asking him to surrender and accept him as the ruler of India but of course, the latter had denied it! This caused several animosities between the two.
But Sanyogita had heard Prithviraj’s tales of valour and was drawn to him. A painter had brought Prithviraj’s painting and Sanyogita was left absolutely smitten with it and so was Prithviraj when he was shown her painting. They continued talking to each other through letters but had not met each other yet. It is reported that around this time, Jayachand organised a swayamwar for his daughter Sanyogita and sent an invite to everyone but Prithviraj.

To add injury to his insult, Jayachand also got Prithviraj’s statue made and installed it at the door as a doorman. One by one after rejecting all other princes, Sanyogita reached the statue behind whom Prithviraj was hiding. He leapt out and put the varmala around Sanyogita’s neck, thus announcing his marriage to her. This enraged Jayachand very much and he decided to take revenge as well.
