Style File: Bad Styling And Boring Looks Turned Up On The Red Carpet At The Filmfare Awards 2021

Filmfare hosted its 66th edition of awards this year with absolutely no spectators and a handful of celebrities, because pandemic. However the real pandemic that emerged on the red carpet was that of seriously bad looks donned by Bollywood stars. It was a dark day for fashion on Saturday when celebrities turned up in hideous feathers and ruffles, unflattering gowns and badly fitted dresses. It was clear that the stylists and celebrities didn’t really give two hoots about the outfits and threw on the first thing they could source. It was more disappointing because we were expecting some flair on the red carpet after a very boring year. The point is, most of the celeb looks seemed forced, fluky and failed to impress. Don’t be disappointed there were some that managed to impress us too. However, NGL, there were more misses than hits.

If you missed out on the celeb looks from the event or dropped by here simply to see who won and who lost, style wise, here is all the dope. We have all the deets about who wore what and the looks that caught our eye, both in a good way and bad one. Take a look at the worst and the best dressed celebrities from the Filmfare Awards 2021—the good, the bad and the ‘wtf is that’?!

THE MISSES

Urvashi Rautela stepped out in a deep red sequinned gown with bow details. In theory, it worked. In reality…not so much. We could still make peace with the tie-up neck but the wrapped bow on the waist is just making the outfit fugly. The makeup is bomb, though.

Although the Zara Umrigar beaded gown in a shaded pink and lilac is stunning and fits her like a glove, we are on the fence about the look overall. Is it her makeup or that headgear that’s bringing down the look? Not sure. But it’s a miss.

Tamannah Bhatia

Tamannah wore a gown that featured an embellished corset style top and a tulle skirt in hot pink. We think she could have done better in terms of picking her outfit because seriously, WTF is this?

Sara Ali Khan

Sara Ali Khan always plays around with silhouettes, colours and styles and we applaud her experimental approach towards fashion. But sometimes it backfires and this is just one of those times.

Shriya Pilgaonkar

The fit, the colour, those lapels, the appeal–we are not sure what we hate more about this look. Who approved this and why? Baggy pantsuits are chic but this is just not it.

Sanjana Sanghi

Sanjana’s mini dress isn’t doing justice to her envious body, TBH. This dress looks straight out flat and doesn’t quite accentuate her curves. We love the heels and HMU.

Okay, so there’s feathers, the mermaid style silhouette, sequins, structured and layered ruffles on the hemline and a trail. There’s too much going on and the bad fit is just adding to the unflattering look. And this is the Filmfare!

THE HITS

Sunny Leone

Simple yet statement-making, Sunny Leone’s ivory gown with an aesthetic front design and thigh-high slit is how you do red carpet right. She kept the look minimal and stunning with silver accessories.

From the colour to the fit, Aahana completely nailed the red-carpet look with this gorgeous purple gown. The hair and makeup too are perfectly in line with the subtle look and totally drool-worthy.

The Little Things star wore a glamorous emerald green gown that was ravishing, chic and classy. It has the illusion of being sheer, but isn’t (so sexy!) and is minimal and still show-stopping.

Amruta Khanvilkar

A saree making an appearance on the red carpet is rare these days but Amruta Khanvilkar’s effortlessly chic and sexy saree look could bring the timeless drape back in the scene. The wet hair look was a smart choice.

Nora Fatehi gets it right almost every time when it comes to fashion. This time too, she wore a golden gown with a slit and an embellished cowl neck which was clearly a hit. We are impressed!
