Kanye West’s Mental Health Issues Cannot Be An Excuse For His Demeaning Remarks Against Women!
In today’s time, we have started giving importance to conversations around mental health issues. There has been more awareness around this topic, so clearly, most of us know a little about the illness to decide whether it justifies certain behaviours or not. Taking this into the context of American rapper, Kanye West’s behaviour lately, it is being pointed out that his issues with mental health do not become an excuse to be insensitive against women or anyone for the matter. This comes in view of all his controversial statements and actions lately and I find is right actually.

Kanye West has been up to something questionable these days. Using his social media handles, Kanye is putting out insulting remarks against women. In fact recently Kanye’s Twitter account was also blocked because of his racist remarks against Jews.. Kanye also made news for wearing a t-shirt with the slogan “White Lives Matter” to the Paris Fashion Week, and during the same time he also randomly fired his publicist. In the past, the American rapper has made some highly questionable gestures for his ex-wife Kim Kardashian following their divorce. It was reported that Kanye West had sent a truck full of roses to Kim’s house, and had also bought a house right in front of hers.

Kanye West’s social media feud with Gigi Hadid also made headlines.This happened when Gigi took the side of designer Gabriella Johnson after Kanye West criticised her for her runway show. Kanye bashed the designer for not being a fashion person after she criticised him for his “White Lives Matter” tee.

According to some Reports, Kanye West has been diagnosed with a mental illness.In fact, he has also been said to have taken psychiatrist sessions for it. We understand and also sympathise with him for battling with this issue, however, this in no way is a justification for his being insensitive against women in general. Especially, with his comments against the Jews, such statements have the potential to instigate hatred in the society, and more so because it is coming from a public figure who is followed by so many people no matter what. Mental health is a very complicated disease and a person goes through a lot of emotional highs and lows while dealing with it, but to start randomly targeting women with harsh words for no reason, or talk in a demeaning way about his ex-wife cannot be backed up by the excuse of his mental issues. If that were the matter, then the world would really become a bitter place, especially social media because then it would normalise this type of behaviour.
