Janhvi Kapoor And Tara Sutaria Have Been Flaunting Scarf Tops. It’s Proof That This 90s Trend Is Back In Fashion

In the past couple of years fashion has become quite imaginative and creative. You could literally wear your T-shirt as a skirt and your skirt as a top and create multiple outfits from a single piece of clothing. You watch these little styling hacks on social media one day and the next thing you know, they become a huge trend. Remember the videos about ‘how to style a scarf five ways’ that surfaced on our feeds a while ago that seemed so interesting that we pulled out all the scarves and started wearing it as a bandeau? It looked too similar to the style that Beyonce’s red printed bandana top she wore in the 90s. Interest piqued. Well, this just in, that innocent hack officially became a trend, bringing bandeau tops back in the scene. However the 2021 version of scarf top is silkier, more stylish and could be made out of an actual scarf. Hallelujah!

Scarf tops are pretty cute and effortless since you just need some wrapping and knotting skills to work it. If you aren’t great at that, you can buy yourself a stylish scarf top from fashion brands like Zara and Balenciaga that have dropped these styles. The breezy outfit also makes for a practical pick to beat the summer heat so I would say the timing couldn’t be better. Celebrities like Janhvi Kapoor and Tara Sutaria have already debuted the look with two different versions of the trend. While Kapoor wore a floral scarf top from Summer Somewhere featuring thin shoulder straps, Sutaria wore the classic silk bandeau top from fashion brand Christian Dior. There are a range of styles but the teensy fabric, aesthetic prints and the skimpy silhouette are constant features of this sexy top. Let us show you how you can hop onboard with the trend too, before it’s summer.

If you want to experiment with a different style, there are some cool scarf tops that the Instagrammers are creating with the square-shaped silky fabric which includes halter neck wrap and front tied up. But if you are going for the classic style, which is a scarf top with handkerchief hem bandana style wrap, we recommend you pick a silk top and pair it with flared pants, boyfriend jeans or mini skirt. For those who are a bit apprehensive about the strapless top slipping down, you could even try wrapping it over your shirt or a thin turtleneck. This is great  if you want to test the waters before you dare to bare (especially on a windy day). It looks so chic and can turn your basic while shirt into a peppy and chic outfit. Here are some looks we loved from the Instagram that you can copy and get on with the trend too.
