Gabriella Demetriades Reveals How She Was Conscious About Her Hip Size. We’ve All Been There!

Let’s be honest, we’re all insecure or conscious about something or the other when it comes to our body. For me, I become even more conscious about my figure/body when I’m online on social media platforms that often promote a particular body type. But it’s before social media jumped on this beauty standards bandwagon, many industries were already there. From the movie industry to the fashion industry, they’ve always been promoting certain ‘ideal’ beauty standards that make most women feel insecure since they do not fit in them. In fact, you’d think models like Gabriella Demetriades who are part of the fashion industry would be unfazed by them. But the truth, in their own words, is that they still feel conscious about their body or their figure because nothing is ever ‘perfect’ enough and the definition keeps changing.

Recently, Gabriella Demetriades opened up about the fashion industry and its beauty standards and how it affected her. She revealed that in her modelling days, she was never completely comfortable in her own skin.

According to the Times of India, former model Gabriella Demetriades revealed that for a very long period of time, she was extremely conscious about her hip and thigh size because she believed that they were not the same size as other, regular models.

But over the years, she realized that her hip and thigh size was perfectly normal. In fact, Gabriella went on to criticize the beauty standard of the fashion industry by stating that the size that is set by the industry for a model is not normal.

And I, for one, completely agree. The thing is that the entertainment industry and the fashion industry have a particular set of beauty standards that eliminate most of the women in our country. And when we, women, don’t fit in those standards, we often become insecure or conscious about ourselves instead of realizing that the problem is with their standards and not ourselves. It is only when people from the industry, like Gabriella Demetriades, open up about these standards, that we realize how ignorant the industries are.
