If you are even remotely interested in what’s happening in the fashion world (why else would you be here), you must have appeared in most, if not all, of the shows of the FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week that just wrapped up a couple days ago. Although it was all about floral motifs, breezy styles and vibrant prints because obviously it was for the spring/summer season, the one refreshing trend that emerged was summer athleisure. That’s your activewear with summery patterns and aesthetics. If you are wondering why athleisure, which has been around for quite some time now, was a big hit at the fashion week, the pandemic probably had a lot to do with it. This season, you will see athleisure in Indian wear (think Payal Singhal’s latest collection), workwear (workleisure is a category now, yes) and parties and get-togethers. Bollywood style setter Malaika Arora already wore a summer athleisure look to a party last night and proved that this isn’t just a fluke.
She visited her sister Amrita Arora’s house for a little star-studded celebration and chose chic sporty separates as her OOTN. She wore a red satin bomber jacket and shorts set by Gucci which had white stripes and the cutest cherries motifs that reminded us of the summer season. She styled the look with holographic heels and a silver sling bag to make it the ultimate party outfit. This cutesy activewear look is a welcome change from the glamorous outfits we have seen celebs walking in for these house parties. She looks comfortable and super stylish and is inspiring us to stock up on athleisure this season too.
