Florence Pugh Shuts Down Trolls “Disappointed” By Her Small Breasts And Nipples. It’s About Damn Time Somebody Did!

As a woman in this cold hard world, I can vouch for the fact that society is never happy with us. No matter what we do, we’re always wrong. No matter what we wear, we’re always shamed. In some way, society has been using shame and humiliation to control our behaviour. With social media, it’s become so easy for people to sit in the comforts of their home, hide behind a screen and comment on a woman’s body and choices and shame her time and again. For a long time, shaming and body shaming have been used to pull a woman down. If you have big breasts, they look ugly and you need to hide them and suppress them. And if you have small breasts, they’re non-existent and you’re shamed for being flat-chested! I’ve always had small breasts and I’ve heard all kinds of comments on my body from being called “football ground” to “saapat” to “nimbu”. It’s funny how something that’s not even in our control is termed a flaw and used to shame us and tame us. As much as I’d have liked to hit back at all the bullies for their comments, as a teenager I never could because I was embarrassed but now is not the time to be ashamed of our bodies. Recently, Florence Pugh took to Instagram to call out men for trolling her and passing comments on her body.

Florence Pugh attended the Valentino Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2022-23 show in Rome on Friday dressed in a stunning Valentino look. She wore a sheer floor-length tulle, halter-neck gown in hot pink colour which was cinched at the waist. But her outfit was not the only way the actress made a statement. She chose to make a revolutionary statement by going braless and she also skipped out on the nipple pasties. The actress freed her nipples and that led all the sexist trolls to think that they can take liberties and comment on Florence’s body. But she’s not one to take it all lying down. The actress took to Instagram earlier to shut down the trolls with a message of her own and it’s winning our hearts. Sharing more pictures of herself in the Valentino gown in protest, the actress wrote a long message for the trolls and it truly resonates with each one of us.

Florence Pugh pointed out that when she wore the sheer Valentino gown, she knew there would be a commentary on it but she didn’t let that bog her down. She shared that she was super excited to wear it and was not at all nervous, “before, during or even now after” the show. She then went on to point out how easy it has become for men to “totally destroy a woman’s body, publicly, proudly, for everyone to see”. She added that the trolls do all of this while having the job titles and work emails in their bio. Well, we do agree with Florence. The guts that some of them have is interesting to see. They’re not scared of being called out or shamed. It’s like they have no fear.

Speaking further, Florence Pugh pointed out that this isn’t the first and won’t be the last time that a woman has to hear strangers pointing out what’s wrong with her body. The actress said that it’s worrying how vulgar some men can be while adding that thankfully she has come to terms with the “intricacies” of her body and is happy with the “flaws” that she couldn’t even bear to look at back when she was 14. She shared how “aggressively” some of the trolls wanted to tell her how “disappointed” they were by her “tiny tits” and how she should be embarrassed by her “flat chest” but she has lived in her body for a long time and knows her breast size and isn’t scared of it.

Florence Pugh further questioned by trolls were so “scared of breasts” and what is so “terrifying” about them. She also wondered what made people so “content” with being “loudly upset” by her body and breast size. She also took a moment to thank her stars for being brought up in a home full of “strong, powerful, curvy women” and was raised to find “power in the creased” of her body. She shared that it has always been her mission to say “fuck it and fuck that” when people form an opinion about her body while asking people to grow up and respect people, women, bodies and humans and not shame them because of “two cute little nipples”.

Florence Pugh also took a subtle dig at Instagram by adding that the last picture in her carousel post is for those who feel more comfortable when the “inch of darker skin” is covered.

We love what Florence had to say to the trolls. It’s time someone schooled them on why it’s not okay to comment on a woman’s body and her choices. More importantly, it’s time someone told them that we don’t get to pick the size of our breasts or the colour of our skin and we’re going to take back control and not let them use shame to tame us into a corner.
