We Saw A Rise In Female Fans This Year, And Here’s What Captivated Them!
Khushi Sharma said, “Funnily enough, football always meant Messi to me growing up because we share the same birthday. But my real love for the sport came from my dad, who introduced me to football through highlights of legends like Diego Maradona. Watching the 2022 World Cup with him is when I truly got hooked. That’s when I realised football isn’t just about the final score; it’s about the adrenaline, celebrating every goal, getting attached to players you’ve never met, and somehow letting your favourite team’s performance decide your mood for the next day. That’s when I knew I was starting to like what football made me feel.
I’m still learning the sport, but as a woman, I’ve realised passion for football has nothing to do with gender. I’m just as invested in the game as my male friends, and beyond the sport itself, football has become something my dad and I bond over, even if we’re cheering for rival teams. I think that’s the beauty of football or any sport… it has a way of bringing people together.”
Pooja Singh got real and wrote, “Football never really caught my attention, but Erling Haaland’s pure energy and larger-than-life character made me watch an entire game. What really hooked me is the hilarious contrast of his existence. On the pitch, he moves like an unstoppable Viking warrior, but off the pitch, he has the humble, chaotic energy of a guy who just wandered into a stadium by accident. He doesn’t take himself too seriously, and that makes him impossible not to root for.”
Another loyal fan, Mamta Naik, said, “I started watching football in college because of Cristiano Ronaldo. In all honesty, at first I only watched his matches, but over time I became a fan of the game itself. Thanks to that love, I’ve learnt more about football, other players and their rivalries. With the FIFA World Cup going on and my favourite player playing, it was a given that I wouldn’t miss it.
Portugal didn’t make it to the final, but it’s been fun and exciting cheering for the team and supporting the others too.
Now with Argentina and Spain in the final, who am I rooting for? SPAIN, LET’S DO IT!!!”

About me? I started watching football during this World Cup, and I’m absolutely loving it! No single player got me into the game. I just began watching matches with my family and found it really fun. Soon I started liking Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, and Lionel Messi. The best part is the thrill that keeps you hooked until the last minute. And honestly, I still don’t know the rules! I’m just here for the vibe and enjoying every moment.
