Priyanka Chopra Jonas Reveals How She Got Her Cannes Outfit Fixed Minutes Before She Had To Walk The Red Carpet. She Has Some Fashion Hacks Up Her Sleeve

There’s no shame in admitting that we all have had NSFW moments in our lives when a sartorial glitch left us red-faced in public. These things happen. An accidental nip slip or showing off more than you intended to because your pants slipped down, zipper came undone or shirt ripped by a hanging nail on a furniture is normal. However, our best possible solution to fix a wardrobe malfunction or avert a possible one is to ask a friend for a cover up or reaching home as fast as humanly possible and change into a secure outfit. However, celebrities rarely have that choice. Plus, a friend walking behind you to cover up your fashion faux pas on the red carpet isn’t really the most viable option, is it? Since they always have hundreds of eyes on them, some specifically hoping for a fashion flub, they have to be style savvy in order to save themselves the horror of a faulty fashion. Seems like global star Priyanka Chopra has mastered the art of handling wardrobe malfunctions with her genius quick fixes.

In a career spanning over two decades which included multiple ramp walks and international red-carpet appearances, Chopra has had her fair share of fashion mishaps. The interesting thing, however, is that she has some quick style tricks and a reliable team of people at her disposal to save her from the awkward moments. Recently she recalled her Cannes debut last year where she almost had a wardrobe malfunction but saved herself just in time. It was her red and black sequinned Roberto Cavalli gown that had turned on her moments before her walk on the red carpet. Her first reaction was to freak out, obviously.

She wrote, “I may look chill on the outside here, but little did everyone know I had just been freaking out on the inside. The delicate zipper to this vintage @roberto_cavalli dress broke as they were zipping it up minutes before I had to leave for the red carpet at Cannes last year. The solution? My amazing team had to sew me into the dress on the way in the 5-minute car ride!” Thank goodness!

This is not the first time Chopra has averted a fashion blooper. In fact, the former beauty queen seem to have a long history of encountering uncomfortable and unfortunate fashion moments since the day she became Miss World in 2000. Remember when she walked gracefully on the stage after winning the title with her hands in a namaste gesture? Yeah, that was a spontaneous trick to keep her gown from slipping. She told People magazine, “The year 2000 and I won Miss World, my dress was taped on to me. By the time I won at the end I was sweating so much because it was so stressful that the entire tape came off. The whole time while I was doing my walk or whatever when I won, I kept my hands like this in a namaste, which people thought was a namaste but actually I was holding my dress up. So uncomfortable.” We would have not guessed it.

She knows she can’t stop from her clothes turning on her but she hasn’t become a pro at handling mishaps. Also, she makes sure that her designers are doing everything to keep her dresses secure and save the trouble of fidgeting over her a sartorial slip up. Her much talked-about Ralph & Russo gown that she wore to the Grammy Awards 2020 was a risqué choice but very well-thought of. The outfit probably grabbed more attention than the winners because of its scandalous neckline but Chopra made sure she doesn’t flash more than she intended to.

She told US Weekly, “Whenever they [Ralph & Russo] make couture for me or custom outfits for me, they always do them fitted to my body, keeping these things [wardrobe malfunctions] in mind. So as much as people might think it would be hard to manage, they found this incredible tulle the same colour as my skin tone and sort of held the dress together with that. So you can’t even see it in the pictures but there was no way it would have happened if they didn’t have that. It was like a netting.” Well done, PeeCee. Well done!
