Yami Gautam Opens Up About Her Skin Condition ‘Keratosis Pilaris’ And How People Wanted To Airbrush It Away During Shoots

As you know, the film industry is full of unachievable beauty standards for women. And when a woman has to work for a beauty product, the standards rise to another level. Recently, Yami Gautam opened up about dealing with a skin condition called Keratosis Pilaris while working for a beauty product for over a decade. She also shared a post on her social media account talking about her incurable skin condition and we are so glad that she is being so open about it.

Keratosis Pilaris is a condition that causes rough patches and small, acne-like bumps on the skin. This condition usually develops when the skin produces too much of a protein called keratin, which can block hair follicles and cause bumps to develop. It is incurable but quite normal. However, our society’s expectation for flawless skin can damage the confidence of the person with this condition. Recently, Yami Gautam shared her thoughts on posting about her condition in an interview. The Bala actress mentioned that the journey from the time she learned about keratosis pilaris and the day she posted about it on social media, was challenging for her.

Yami Gautam also added that when people saw her at the shoot for the beauty product, they always used to talk about how the bumps should be airbrushed or concealed in order to hide it and that used to affect her in many ways. According to the Kaabil actress, it took her so many years to accept it and wear her confidence. She also revealed that she was overwhelmed to see the response to the post. We love to see women accepting their flaws and loving themselves unconditionally, after all, these imperfections make us perfect. We are cheering for you, Yami!
